Hollywood Posters, A Colfax Avenue Fixture, Is Closing After 35 Years - The Denver Post

A poster promoting "The Big Sleep" rests against a wall as John Caruso, owner of Hollywood Posters works at his shop <a href=Kim Kardashian 'really Trying' For More Kids - Yahoo News in Denver on Thursday.' /> He had seen success selling the original "Star Wars" posters, and six months before the city bought Jerry's from its centralized location, another poster seller had walked in promising Caruso easy money by peddling images of Farrah Fawcett in a bathing suit. "I thought, 'We're too classy for that,' but he talked me into it," Caruso said. "That planted the seed, and now we've sold a million of these things." By chance, Caruso was able to lease his original used bookstore's location at 326 E. Colfax Ave. back to sell posters. In 1980, he reference began offering sci-fi, fantasy and action-film posters just as the post-"Star Wars" age of the Hollywood blockbuster kicked into gear. He was so successful, in fact, that at one point in the mid-1980s he ran Hollywood Posters locations On the Hill in Boulder and on Bijou Street in Colorado Springs.
